On the THAILAND FIRST LIGHT VILLAGE HOMESTAY, you will get to enjoy the beautiful scenery at the Pha Taem National Park. You will get to spend one of the night’s camping and in the morning experience a spectacular sunset, and because we are at the most easterly point, it is the first light in Thailand.

Not only do you get to soak in the views you will also get to explore the small local village and learn about local village and wisdom.

This Village Homestay is registered standard homestay by Tourism Department with basic and standard facilities.

Please Note: Ban Sasom is located about 600 kilometres from Bangkok towards the Isan area or north-eastern part of Thailand. To get here you can take the overnight train (11-hours) or fly (1-hour). Upon arrival at Ubon Ratchathani, the villagers will be ready to pick you up and drive to the village (1.5-hour drive).

DAY1: UBON Arrival (-,L,D)

Upon arrival at UBON’s airport/bus terminal/ train station (arrival time # to be advised), your local guide will pick you up. You can then enjoy a coffee or a snack at a cafe/ local restaurant.

Then prepare to depart to the rural village Ban Sa Som by minivan for a 2-hour drive. This village is located in the Pha Taem National Park.

Meet your local home hosts, check in and have lunch.

After lunch, it's time for a tour of the village. Here you can either go for a walk or a bike ride to see the local way of life. You will also experience a natural dyeing workshop and explore the local forest for some herbs.

Enjoy some leisure time before dinner, which will be served at the homestay.

Overnight: Simple and comfortable homestay, bedding and mosquito net are provided.

DAY2: Pha Taem National Park Trail & Tented Camp (B,L,D)

Get up early in the morning to observe the local villagers offering alms to the monks. This is a little different from other villages because the people here are quite devoted in their beliefs.

Then prepare yourself for a local tractor ride to discover some of the natural sculptures.

Breakfast will be served along the trail.

In the late morning we will head back to the homestay and you will be able to rest till lunch.

At approximately 2:30PM, your local guide will pick you up from the homestay and take you, either by 4x4 truck (2-hours) or local tractor (3-hours), to the peak of Pha Chanadai in the national park. Along the way we will stop at some of the viewpoints.

The villagers will set up your tent for you.  Dinner will be served at the camp.

Overnight will be at the campground.  

DAY3: First Sunrise of Thailand (B,L,D)

Wake up around 5:30AM and walk to the viewpoint of the peak.

Here you will be the first people in Thailand to see the sunrise because you are at the most easterly point. This is an impressive view as you will see the Mekong river and hill ranges.

Breakfast will be served at camp and we will head back down to the village again. 

Lunch will be at homestay.

You will have some leisure time in the afternoon.

Dinner will be with your host family.

Overnight: Simple and comfortable homestay, bedding and mosquito net are provided.

DAY4: UBON Departure (B)

Breakfast will be served at the homestay.

Then you will check out and say goodbye to your home hosts. We will depart to Ubon’s airport.

This program will be a part that could be generated community development fund of the community to ensure that every traveler’s spending goes to support local people and reducing rural-urban migration.
