SAVANNA ISLAND MOKEN VILLAGE HOMESTAY
Come and experience a unique homestay at Moken Village with an eco-tour based on local livelihood activities. This is an opportunity for you to learn about the traditional culture and stories of the Moken people who are traditionally nomadic sea faring people.

DAY1: Moken Life (-/L/D)
We will pick you up at your hotel in Khao Lak. Then we will give you a quick pre-trip briefing before taking you to Tung La Ong Pier to meet your local hosts.
You will go on a boat trip to the remote island of Koh Phra Thong, where you can explore the mangrove forest in a long- tail boat. Make sure you keep your eyes out for the otters and monkeys! You will then take a journey through the tidal canals and learn about this amazing ecosystem, which also acts as a home for crabs, fish and shrimp.
Enjoy a delicious lunch with your host family and local guide.
In the afternoon, you will learn how to make squid traps with local fishermen. Then take a tractor ride to a long stretch of deserted beach to learn about fishing, collecting edible oyster and tin mining.
Next it is time to relax on the beach and enjoy a beautiful sunset. If you want you can also help to prepare the evening meal of fresh seafood!
After eating your traditional southern Thai meal, you will weave palm fronds into animal shapes. This makes a great souvenir! Then you can spend the evening getting to know your homestay hosts.

DAY2: Natural Exploration (B/L/D)
In the morning you will have a peaceful breakfast with your homestay hosts. Afterwards your local guide will take you through a field on the back of a tractor.
Try to catch a glimpse of wildlife such as deer and birds or find honeycomb up in the trees.
Enjoy another homemade lunch with your hosts.
In the afternoon, you will meet your local guide and explore the mangrove ecosystem and try to catch crabs and fish or gather shells depending on the tide.
Then learn to cook Thai food with your hosts or take a walk to the beach and enjoy another colourful sunset!

DAY3: Cultural Exchange (B/L/-)
Breakfast will be served at your homestay.
Then join a local woman to make a traditional Moken dessert called “Khanom Jak” which is made from flour, coconut and then wrapped in Napa palm leaf. It will then be roasted over coals. Enjoy this tasty treat together.
Lunch will be served with your homestay hosts.
Pack up and say goodbye to your friendly hosts. You will then be taken back to your hotel in Khao Lak.

This program will be a part that could be generated community development fund of CBT Moklan Village of Tung Dap to ensure that every traveler’s spending goes to support local people and reducing rural-urban migration.
