Bringing Sustainable Tourism to Roi Et: How SiamRise Travel Is Supporting Thailand's Green Tourism Movement

Sustainable tourism isn't built by one organisation. It grows through collaboration, shared knowledge, and communities working together toward a common vision.

Last weekend, SiamRise Travel was honoured to join R&D Creation and the Roi Et Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports in a collaborative initiative to strengthen sustainable tourism in Roi Et Province.

As a sustainable tourism specialist in Thailand, we were invited to share our experience and support local tourism stakeholders in preparing for a greener and more resilient future.

This opportunity follows another important milestone for our team. SiamRise Travel recently signed the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030 Memorandum of Understanding, reaffirming our commitment to advancing sustainable tourism across Thailand. As part of this initiative, our Co-founder and General Manager, Fine, was certified as a Thailand Green Coach, enabling her to mentor tourism businesses and community destinations in adopting internationally recognised sustainable tourism standards.

Working Together for a Greener Roi Et

Hosted at M Grand Hotel, Roi Et, the programme brought together representatives from Local Administrative Organizations (LAOs), tourism businesses, and community leaders to strengthen the province's sustainable tourism capacity.

The workshop focused on helping participants:

  • Understand international sustainable tourism standards.
  • Improve tourism products and services through sustainable practices.
  • Build long-term commitment to responsible tourism.
  • Create jobs while ensuring tourism benefits local communities.
  • Position Roi Et as an emerging sustainable tourism destination in Thailand.

As part of the programme, Koi, SiamRise Travel's Sustainable Project Manager, facilitated hands-on sessions that guided participants through the sustainability criteria and practical actions under the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030. Working closely with representatives from Local Administrative Organizations, private sector businesses, and local communities, she helped translate sustainability principles into practical actions that can be implemented within their own destinations.

For us, sustainable tourism is never about meeting a checklist. It is about empowering local people with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to create tourism that protects local culture, preserves natural resources, and delivers lasting benefits to future generations.

Looking Ahead

For more than a decade, SiamRise Travel has partnered with communities across Thailand to create meaningful travel experiences that generate positive social, environmental, and economic impact.

Today, our role continues to grow beyond operating responsible tours. Through initiatives like the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030, we are proud to share our expertise with destinations across the country, helping local governments, tourism businesses, and communities move together toward internationally recognised sustainability standards.

We sincerely thank R&D Creation and the Roi Et Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports for the opportunity to contribute to this important initiative. We look forward to continuing our work with communities across Thailand, proving that sustainable tourism is not only possible—it is the pathway to a stronger, more resilient future for destinations and the people who call them home.
