Co-creating Knowledge for a Zero-Carbon Tourism Future: SiamRise Travel Joins Forces to Develop the Next Generation of Zero-Carbon Tourism Entrepreneurs
At SiamRise Travel, we believe that the future of tourism must be sustainable, inclusive, and innovative. That’s why we are proud to be part of the project “New Breed Graduate Program: Zero-Carbon Tourism Business Design and Development”, supported by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation in collaboration with Dusit Thani College, Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), and TrekkingThai.
This pioneering program aims to train future tourism professionals with the knowledge and skills to:
- Design and manage sustainable tourism businesses aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Develop strategic management and innovation competencies
- Build strong connections with local communities while encouraging inclusive participation
Learning through 3 Key Modules
The curriculum is designed around three essential modules:
- Foundations of Sustainable Tourism – Understanding principles and best practices for responsible travel.
- Designing Zero-Carbon Travel Programs – Creating tourism experiences that minimize environmental impact and achieve net-zero carbon.
- Managing Tourism Businesses for Sustainability – Building strategies for long-term business success with sustainability at the core.
SiamRise Travel’s Role
As part of this initiative, SiamRise Travel contributed to both teaching and mentoring:
- We delivered a session on “From Ideas to Reality: How to Manage a Sustainable Tourism Business”, sharing our journey of operating as a Responsible Travel DMC and social enterprise in Thailand.
- We also served on the judging panel of the Zero Carbon Tourpreneur Challenge, where students competed to showcase their innovations. The competition recognized excellence in four categories:
- Best Zero Carbon Travel Idea
- Best Branding
- Best Collaborative Award
- Best Overall Award
