Ubon Ratchathani also known as UBON is a part of the “Emerald Triangle”, where Thailand, Cambodia and Laos meet. UBON is covered mostly in rice paddies that appear lush green during the rainy season and straw yellow for the rest of the year. DAY1: UBON Arrival (-,L,D)

Upon arrival at Ubon’s airport/bus terminal/ train station (arrival time # to be advised), your local guide will pick you up. You will then be able to freshen up at a café/ local restaurant before beginning the 40-minute drive to a temple. At Wat Si Nuan Saeng Sawang Arom, you will be able to enjoy the fine art decorations. Then we will travel to a local village, where lunch will be served.

After lunch enjoy a hands-on experience of traditional silk making. Learn how to make silk thread and watch a demonstration of the production process.

Now try a special and surprising local delicacy!  

Then do some shopping for local products from the community of Ban Nong Bo.

You will then go back to your hotel to check in and enjoy some leisure time.

Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

Overnight at Hotel in Ubon Ratchathani.

DAY2: Ubon - Sasom Homestay (B,L,D)

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. We will then begin the 2-hour drive by minivan to Ban Sasom village.

Ban Sasom village is located in the Pha Taem National Park. Ban Sasom is registered standard homestay by Tourism Department with basic and standard facilities.

Meet your local home hosts, check in and have lunch at your homestay. 

Then go for a walk or bike ride around the village, so you can see the local way of life. There will also be a natural dyeing workshop where you will be able to try this technique yourself.  

You will have some leisure time until dinner, which will be served at your homestay.

Overnight will be at Sasom Homestay.

DAY3: Pha Taem National Park Trail & Tented Camp (B,L,D)

Get up early in the morning and you will experience offering alms to the monks.

Then prepare yourself for a local tractor ride and walk to discover the natural sculptures. 

Breakfast will be served along the trail.

Late morning you will head back to your homestay and rest till lunch.

Around 02:30PM, the village guide will pick you up from your homestay and take you either by 4x4 truck (2-hours) or tractor (3-hours) to a tented camp area at the peak of Pha Chanadai in the national park.

Along the way, we will stop at some of the viewpoints to appreciate the beauty of the area.

The villagers will set up the campsite for you and dinner will be served at the camp.

Overnight will be at the campground.

DAY4: First Sunrise of Thailand (B,L,-)

Wake up around 05:30AM and walk to the viewpoint of the peak. We will wait to see the sunrise before anyone in Thailand, with the Mekong River and hills view. 

Breakfast will be served at tented camp and we will travel back down to the village again. 

We will check out and say goodbye to your home host. Then we will depart to Khemmarat. 

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. 

You will then arrive at Khemmarat and check in at the Riverside Resort.

You will have leisure time for the rest of the day.

DAY5: Mekong Folk Life (B,L.-)

Breakfast will be served at the resort.

We will take you to the village where they have a home factory to make clothes from cotton. Here you can learn how they weave.

Then there will be a short drive to another village.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

Arrive at Ban Lat Charoen, during the dry season. We will then take a boat trip to a part of the Grand Canyon of Thailand, which will emerge from the water and become an amazing natural wonder in the middle of the Mekong River. During the raining season, we can have a roasted tea workshop with local people instead.

The rest of the day is filled with leisure time.

DAY6: Ubon Departure (B,-,-)

Breakfast will be served at the resort.

Late in the morning, check out and then you will be taken to the airport/ bus terminal/ train station/ Thai-Laos border in Ubon Ratchathani.

This program will be a part that could be generated community development fund of Ban Sasom Homestay and Khemmarat Community Based Tourism Team to ensure that every traveler’s spending goes to support local people and reducing rural-urban migration.
