5 Reasons Why Public Transport is the Answer to Get around Bangkok

Bangkok is a big vibrant city.

It is full of food stalls, malls, beautiful shrines and temples and also hectic bustling streets.

I came to this eclectic city with big plans to explore.

However, initially I was stumped at how to get around. The sheer amount of people and cars is astounding and walking through this huge city is impractical and unrealistic.

My transportation woes ended when I mastered the public transport system.

Here are the 5 reasons why you should embrace public transport to responsibly explore Bangkok:

1. It’s cheap

If you wish to save a few bucks public transport is the way to go! It costs me less than 2 Australian dollars to travel to work each day. '

2. It’s better for the environment

Using public transport is a greener way to travel. It reduces car emissions, improves air quality, reduces traffic congestion and minimises noise.

3. It’s super convenient

There are so many public transport options in Bangkok. There’s the BTS, MRT, public boat, bus system and songthaew. The public transport system make this immense city more accessible.

4. It is easy

I will admit that my first few attempts at public transport were a challenge. I have been to the wrong station and also super late. However, once you get the hang of the system it is by far the easiest way to get around.

5. Travel like a local

Travelling with public transport also offers a unique opportunity to see the other side of the city. Whilst at times the journey can be overcrowded and uncomfortable it is also a really great way to see how people go about their daily lives.

I find that public transport is the most practical, affordable and convenient way to explore Bangkok.

Don’t take my word for it though, try it for yourself!
